Newsouk is dedicated to people who want to travel and use the local language in everyday situations. We will focus on the Arab street because there are already many methods for the so-called Standard Arabic or "Fosha" which is more concerned with the administration and the media (newspapers, television and radio).
We will focus on the two most widely spoken dialects: the Maghreb (Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia...) and the "Mashreck"(Egypt, Syria, Jordan and UAE...).
In the web site you will find only auditions since the language has the peculiarity of not being written, and we believe it is the best way of learning (listening and repeating).

The Arab Maghreb or "Dariya"is the result of the development of oral Arabic in the Maghreb. It is an evolution of Arabic language imported by Muslim conquerors in the seventh century and the Bedouin tribe of the Banu Hilal in the eleventh century.
Nowaday we sitll find differences between the different dialects in the Maghreb area, Algeria, Morocco or Tunisia. Most developed on a strong Berber substrate, which has left a visible mark on the vocabulary, phonetics and grammar.
It is also evident the influence of Arabic, Andalusian and in modern times French and, to a lesser extentSpanish.
To complement our learning it can be found on the website audio material, audiovisual, exercises, fun videos and modern Arab music.
